Best Quality Dentures
The easiest answer to this question is that the best quality dentures are the dentures you and your denture professional feel are the right choice for you. Comfort and function must be at a premium. Your denturist will carefully examine your personal needs, and together, you will weigh them against the many options available. That being said, let's take a look at two of the latest techniques for obtaining high quality dentures.
Our first item is a new innovation in the way dentures are constructed at the lab. The most common method has been for a denturist to take a soft mold impression of the patient's dental ridges, and then construct a wax bite mold into which teeth are selected and fitted. Once this process has been completed to the patient's satisfaction, the wax bite denture mold is sent to the lab to be used in construction of the finished denture. Typically, the wax mold is encased in a stone mold which then goes through a heat curing process. The melted wax is then poured out, leaving the teeth and denture impression in the mold. Dental acrylic was then poured into the mold and put through the heat curing process again. This generally produced an adequate denture, but the acrylic would often become slightly warped or shrunken during the heat process, and so would require further adjustments to properly fit the patient's jaw. The new acrylic injection mold system eliminates the warping found with the heat curing process, resulting in dentures that perfectly match the patient's original dental impressions. The result? The best fitting dentures possible.
Our second item involves denture implant technology. Denture implants use small titanium posts mounted directly into the bone of the dental ridge to anchor dentures securely. All types of dentures can then be firmly mounted onto these posts, eliminating the slippage that can make chewing and speaking difficult for so many denture wearers. The implants also provide more stress stimulus to the bone material. This stimulus is essential for bone to maintain it's structure, thus avoiding the shrinkage that eventually causes standard denture wearers so many problems. Stability can mean comfort and confidence.
These are just two examples of the advancements in denture technology. Only your denture professional can help you select the best quality dentures for you. And after all, you'll be wearing your dentures all day, everyday. Shouldn't you invest in the highest quality dentures available to you?
